I thoroughly enjoyed Digby's journey and seeing the whole story from his point of view. A mystery, a kidnapping, a chase, this story has it all and will keep you panting to the last page. Digby's Diary is suitable for all ages.
If your furry friend could journal, what adventure would be told?
In this charming story, a standard French Poodle named Digby begins his narrative by describing his homeland in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, southern Africa. He reminisces in a nostalgic way about his birth and early life with his mom and being part of a litter of five.
With both human and animal characters in this adventure the reader needs to be aware of doggy language usually kept private between furry friends. It is fun to mentally log the use of the dog’s conversation about human hands (paws) human man (two paws) and boys (young pups), etc. For an example I quote Digby. “Later that day I was sitting down at the bottom of the garden in front of the gate wishing it to open; I knew the young pups would not be back to clean the fish’s home for quite some time.”
A story for all ages as curiosity leads Digby beyond the gate. This adventure lends to new friends, danger, survival and heroism as these canines must work together with two young boys (pups) to rescue a kidnapped girl.
Author E. D. Bird uses the knowledge and love of furry friends to write this fast paced, hard to put down adventure that will warm the hearts of all animal lovers with an ending that will surprise you in keeping with the nature of Digby. I look forward to reading more adventures from Digby’s Diary in the future.

Digby's Diary
Digby is a dog with human thoughts. E.D. Bird obviously knows dogs and cats extremely well, and if they could talk, I'm sure what she says they are saying is exactly what is really in their minds. The book shows loyalty, a lot of humour, I laughed out loud, and I had a tear in my eye more than once, too. I hope there's going to be sequal.
Wonderful, creative dog's eye view of humans. Excellent for all ages.

This is a book I would recommend to readers of all ages. Digby is a dignified poodle who finds himself on an adventure to protect two young "two-paws" who are trying to solve a mystery on their own. Along the way, Digby makes several new friends, each of whom have a distinct personality and round this intrepid group out.
Its well written and I enjoyed every minute of reading it.

It is a very nice little interesting book about Digby, a dog obviously and the book chronicles his adventure outside his master’s home. It all starts when he ventured outside by curiosity, meets many of other canines along the road and becomes friends. Their adventure would not only bring them all together as a team but also unite them for an unprecedented mission of saving a kidnapped girl and it would eventually change their life. With the help of two young boys, and horses, they follow the thugs, and get themselves into many dangerous situations by risking their own lives.
It is a very nicely written book in simple language, the prose is straight forward and clear and the reading is fluent. All the scenes are perfectly described, no more no less, and you feel like sailing freely. The unique words such as paw for hand, pups for boys, two-paws for man substituted as in a doggy language were a brilliant idea and the author has to be congratulated for that. It also has cats, some humans and many-many dogs in the story and one has to remain quite alert to differentiate them. If you are an animal lover like me, I am sure that you would love this little book and last but not least, the reason why Digby wrote his diary alone will surprise you - 4 stars - Reviewed by TIM I GURUNG/AUTHOR AT ISSLCARE.
